Abortion, Yes Or No? Legalized Murder? Acceptable Alternative? What Is Your View? Chime In!
In today’s post, I want to talk about the controversial topic of abortion. I know many of you might be saying that as a Christian company your stance is clear.
Yes it is. Cloud Ten Pictures (and your blogger) are both against abortion, make no mistake about it.
However, some of the folks who read our blog think abortion is acceptable.
While still others feel that abortion is wrong in most cases except a few.
What are your thoughts?
I’d really like to hear some good commentary.
So first, let us know your position on the issue of abortion and then back it up as to why you take that position.
Feel free to post anonymously if you are uncomfortable giving your true thoughts.
Your friend and blogger… Eric

I am very against abortion. I do not feel there is any justifiable reason abortion is acceptable. Even in the event that my health would be compromised if I gave birth, or in the unfortunate event I conceived due to a forced situation, I still would not even begin to contemplate abortion. My take is that it is an innocent life, what gives me the right to decide if he/she should live. I also feel I've been given a chance to live my life and the unborn child has a right to live theirs. If the pregnancy was due to a situation that I am not sure I could handle living with there is adoption, so another family could have the ability to raise the child.
Of course I'm very pro adoption since I Wouldn't have my son if it weren't for adoption. Just my two sense.
I firmly believe that abortion is wrong..period. There are NO extenuating circumstances under which it could be deemed acceptable. Life begins at the very moment of conception. You may choose to call it a fetus, I call it an unborn child..made in the very image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made. What about a pregnancy that is the result of rape? Does that child deserve any less of a chance at life simply because of a horrendous, sinful act? Absolutely not. You nay argue that the violent genes of his father could be passed on to him. You're most likely right…afterall we're all born sinners. Sin is sin regardless of it's magnitude. You may also choose the argument that if it is found that the unborn child is likely to be born with a deformity, a defect, something horribly wrong, that it should not be brought into the world. Your argument would likely be that an injustice would be done to this child and it's family by allowing it to come into the world only to suffer and die. I don't buy into this reasoning either. God has a plan, a purpose and a destiny for every living soul, and He is MORE than able to heal any physical ailment or if not, to at the very least turn the situation into one where He will receive the ultimate glory.
So those are just a few of my opinions on why abortion is totally and utterly wrong. It is murder no matter what name you might choose to try and adorn it with. Pray for all those mothers out there who are struggling with the abortion decision that they will see that there is hope no matter how hopeless their situation may seem. God bless.
I totally disapprove of Abortions! Recently, in Youth Parliament, we had a debate on this same issue, I was against the notion and it was interesting to hear some of the reasons people give to support getting or promoting an Abortion. Some say in a case of rape its okay to have it carried out. While I feel for the victim in this case, I think that the devil has suceeded in creating a lesser value of life….. we know longer value lives or see lives as something wonderful that God himself gives.
Now, the fact of the matter is that abortion involves taking the life of an innocent baby which turns out to be…. let me see…..oh yeah, murder! Law has taken away the value of an unborn child by calling him/her "it"; which implies that the unborn cannot be considered as a person and thus it is okay to abort it.
Interestingly enough is the fact that an unborn child is filled with God-given potential. Potential to become a doctor with the cure for cancer, a next great pastor, a president, who knows? Is it fair for us to rob them of the opportunity to shine even before they are born because of reasons society gives to justify the action? Finally, abortion poses a health hazard to the person getting the abortion and can even end in death. God frowns on abortion and I am against abortion at any stage or any form.
abortion is the ending of a human life. there is no dispute in that because if the pregnancy was not terminated by an outside force, it would have continued to develop until it was able to survive on it's own. the fragility of a human in the beginning and end of his life does not lessen his value. when a pregnancy is completed and this God given being is seen- it is not to be disputed. but the sadness is of the parents/grandparents who forfeited a life. so many lives are destroyed as a result. it should no longer be presented as an easy solution to an inconvenience. choice? there is a choice, but it happens before conception.
*the alternative is considering the ramifications of a sexual relationship prior to a pregnancy.
Wow, Eric. You must have touched a nerve with this one. :0)
I am against abortion. There. I said it. And I'm not ashamed of that position either, nor am I ready to debate with someone about my position.
And here's why:
The numbers are clear. In the late 80's, less than three percent of ALL abortions were done because of rape, incest, or to save the mother's life during delivery (or for some other reason). I haven't looked up the numbers recently, but I'm sure they're not that much different today. That means 97 percent of all abortions are done for the sake of Convenience. They are performed simply because some woman wants to control her body, and she just doesn't want to be pregnant. That's what "convenience" means. It's not convenient to be pregnant at that time. She'd rather be free.
And I'm sorry if that hurts some people's feelings, or upsets people, or makes them angry. But it's the truth. If you want to debate about abortion, go right ahead. But count me out. The numbers are there. When someone can explain away those numbers in a logical manner, I might listen. But not until then.
But here's the other side of the coin:
A lot of Christians want to take the stand against abortion, but they're not willing to go any further. They want to call it a crime, but they don't want to contribute to organizations that help girls who find themselves pregnant, for whatever reason.
So I don't want to debate with people about why abortion is wrong. And I'm tired of hearing Christians (and I'm one too) talk about abortion like it's the sin to end all sins, when they don't want to help young girls that are pregnant and have nowhere to turn. If you want to take a stand against something you call a sin, then you need to live your Christianity, and love the people that are caught in sin! Isn't that what Jesus did? If you want to take a stand against abortion, then fight it in the courts! And fight it in the streets! And fight it all over the place! BUT AT THE SAME TIME, WALK IN LOVE. Love those girls that don't have an alternative, and don't have a way to support a baby, let alone themselves! LOVE them! and Love them to Jesus! That means… are you ready for this?…. opening up your homes to a girl that needs a place to live, while she's carrying this baby. Help to pay for the doctor's visits. Provide the food that these girls need, and the vitamins that will help the baby develop correctly.
And talk to people about abortion. Don't just gripe and complain, and talk about people behind their backs, calling them "sinners" and "heathens" and all sorts of other things. LOVE them. The Bible says in Romans that it's the kindness of God that leads men to repentance. A judgmental attitude won't bring anyone to the kingdom!
And while you're at it, are you praying for this nation, that God would turn the hearts of all men concerning this situation, so that people will start to know, just in their heart of hearts, that it's wrong to kill a baby?
And for those of you that say that life does not begin at conception, have you ever listened to an ultrasound? Ever listened to the heartbeat of this… "thing"…. that you say is not alive? I bet not.
My words may cause your temper to rise, but I will point the finger at both crowds: you who think abortion is fine, picture yourself standing before Almighty God, answering the question, "Why did you do this to innocent children?" Try to come up with an answer.
And you who want to call it a crime, but don't want to lift a finger to help someone who desperately needs your help, picture yourself in front of the Lord Jesus, asking you the question, "Why wouldn't you help?" Try to come up with an answer.
Personally, I think we all should be praying like Nehemiah prayed, for the sins of his people.
There, Eric. I've had my say.
of course abortion is wrong, it is murder of the worst kind! It is taking the lives of those who can't defend themselves. A woman does not have the right to murder her baby just because he/she is not old enough to be born yet. God says the life of a human being begins in the womb. Psalm 139
I believe in the creation of life is a Godly design, for each and everyone of us. God is the One who gives life, and only He has the right to take it away. This is one of the ten Commandments, Thou shall not kill. Some will want to drill down on the theory of a child is not a child until the mother has given birth. But, even in the Old Testament, Exodus 21:22-25, there are two penalties if fighting men hit a pregnant woman. If there was serious injury, the offender was severely punished to the same degree…should the baby or mother die, the offender too must die as punishment. This passage shows how valuable God considers both the mother and the unborn baby.
I think abortion is so volatile and controversial because it is not a social issue. It is a preference issue, and the issue is life or death. Much of the world view says man does not answer to anyone but him/herself and pair that with much of society wants sexual freedom without consequences. Abortion so many times is treated like an eraser, people opt to kill/abort/murder a baby that they do not want to be responsible for raising. Simply put, not deal with the consequences of immoral behavior. The mainstream Christian view will uphold that we do answer to God first, then man.
Abortion is one of those sins that Satan loves to throw back at the woman or man. There are so many people who have been affected by an abortion. Many think it is an unforgivable sin and carry this guilt along throughout their whole lives…I personally want to reach out to those women and men and say, Yes, God forgives this too, even this. If you are reading this and have been down this path, I encourage you to get comfort and support, either on-line or in person and start healing through the living God.
I really am not a fan of "internet debates" but I'll throw in my few cents here. Since I love teaching and preaching on the topic of evolution vs creation, I have a knowledge or two about this issue. I'm not going to go into the scientific facts because that has probably already been debated. I will say that 34% of babies born at five and a half months live normal healthy lives, and that surgeries have been done on babies while they are still in the womb at younger ages.
That's all I'm going to say for now.

a lovely woman spoke before a group. she and her husband were nearing retirement. she was so full of life & told many humorous tales of their marraige/life together. the most transparent part was about her college age daughter. one day she got a phone call from the daughter's room mate at college. tomorrow, an abortion was planned because of the embarassment of a pregnancy out of wedlock. the mother boarded a plan immediently and gave her support & acceptance. they both look into the eyes of this beautiful child & today oppose such an easy alternative to facing the unknown. abortion is the ending of a life, no many lives. i cannot imagine the saddness that would have endured in the heart of that young women had she proceeded as planned.
I have a great deal of trouble thinking of a situation where abortion is an acceptable alternative to nature. But, of course, we ought to never trivialize the difficulties of these situations; as far as I can tell, there is a lack of compassion and realism in those who generally protest abortion.
Scripture ought to be read and then followed. Look at James 1:27, here we find the true worshipers of God. In here you find those who take care of children who are parentless. Because of this, I think that the position of those who argue for a child to be preserved to the point of birth ought to be increasingly ignored, if they do not also burden themselves with the care of already birthed children who are not wanted.
I have no doubt what God's view of abortion is, and I align my own view to match His. I believe that abortion is the murder of a real person whose life could have been yet another testimony to God's amazing power. I know full well that the common argument of those for abortion states that the fetus is just like a grasshopper or a fly; therefore it is not a big deal to end its life. This statement breaks my heart. How can any person dishonor God's creation in that way? How can one make a little child seem like an irrelevant insect? God created each and every little child for a purpose. Even the tiniest speck of a human child inside a mother is extremely, extremely important to God's Kingdom. God said that He sees every sparrow that falls from the sky… how can anyone think that it does not break His heart to see a being so special as a child be murdered at the hand of some prideful, heartless, and greedy jerk of an adult?
Christ came to this earth as a child. May God be praised that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was not subjected to this hideous sin.
I believe that any woman who is presented with the choice of aborting her baby must take the responsibility to either put it up for adoption or care for it herself. Life.
Legalized murder. It is ending a human life. Unfortunately our liberal media oriented society cares more about saving whales. It is very sad and upside down.
I don't think a nerve has beens struck here with this blog. I think this nerve has been pressed HARD for a really long time now, and I think it's a nerve that needs to be released a bit.
Here are my feelings on the topic. Hear me out to the end.
There have been six conservative presidents since the Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion in 1973. Six men have stood on a platform of "abortion is wrong" and won the seat of the most powerful position in the world. Since then, however, none of them have made abortion illegal. If they were going to truly push for illegal abortions, wouldn't they have done it by now? Or rather, are they using your feelings toward the issue as a way to get into office? For this reason, maybe you shouldn't let your views on abortion be the judge of your ballot, because it seems like no one is doing anything about it. And don't hold your breath for a politician who's "truly sincere" about the topic. I'm sure none of them are sincere enough to push a bill that would kill them and their party's chance of future elections. As long as they have abortion, they'll have your vote.
Abortion is the termination of an unborn fetus. Most, espeically on this blog, believe that this is the killing of a human being. I'm not going to argue with that, your points are valid, but I will argue that sending someone to the lethal injection table or electric chair is also killing a human being. Maybe that human did something terrible, but doesn't the Bible say not to kill, period. Yes, babies are purly innocent, but still does that give us the right to kill another human, even if they've done something wrong? If you believe that abortion is murder, then capitol punishment must be murder as well.
Don't think of me as a raging liberal. Hear me out. Read what I asked and said. I'm not saying abortion is right or wrong. I'm just hear to give some additonal points to consider on the topic.
The idea that society and the media are liberal is growning quite old. Fox News is the largest and most watched news programming ever, and if you watch election numbers, popular not electoral, over the past 10 years, there are far more conservatives in the United States than liberals.
What's wrong with saving whales, or trees, or anything on earth? Shouldn't we try to value all life?
If abortion is legalised murder, then isn't capitol punishment the same thing? Sure the baby didn't do anything wrong, but both are still murder. Both are a person or society forcing their own will on another person's life.
To borrow from the great professor Tolkien, "Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement." I think some famous philosopher said somthing like that around Matthew 7 as well.
Let us all protect and value all life in all of its forms and not pass a violent judgemental hand at any of them. Let's teach people to love, not show them a mutilated fetus and damn them to hell. If we do this, then we may actually change minds about many things and ultimately live in a much more peaceful world.
I was in a pediatrics ward one time visiting family. I and most of the nurses saw what looked like a spiritual vision of a high priest walk through the hallways and into the room of a dying child. Later on I was about 12 weeks pregnant with a child who was dying an extremely painful death due to a cord accident. I saw a small bright light the size of a dove come straight down from heaven and go through the top of my head and settle down into my womb. It scared me, but the baby(we didn’t know she was dying) stopped squirming and writhing so hard and it seemed like she was asleep. The doctor kept insisting it was too soon to feel her kicking, so I was glad she was at rest. This light stayed inside of me for over a month, and then the light left the same way it went into me. She seemed to wake up and squirm again for a day or two and then things went very still in my womb. She had died.No one ever will convince me that God doesn’t care for the born or the unborn. My mother tried to have an abortion when she was pregnant with me but was glad when it didn’t work out. I am the one daughter she has that she actually gets along with as adults. She and I are extremely close knit. I have forgiven her, and I love her very much. She was as deceived as Eve was. We have all been deceived at one point or another by evil. This much I know…if satan can’t deceive us he can’t defeat us. I love my mom so much that I lead her to the Lord, because I want to see her in heaven! There is no person worthless that Jesus Christ died for! God calls any baby that opens the womb blessed. We must not condemn those who were deceived into having an abortion. They need forgiveness along with their salvation. There is a difference between God’s righteousness which is being forgiven and able to stand blameless before God and self righterousness, which is self forgiveness especially when the actions are inappropriate. We gain nothing by pointing fingers.Prayer for deceived people works wonders!
I personally am AGAINST abortion. I don’t think there is any justification for murdering a unborn baby, and a baby it IS. With so many kinds of birth control I can see why a woman needs go kill a gift that God just gave you. I’ve heard all sorts of reasons, what if she finds out that she could die? or what if you were raped? To those who consider these reasons for having a abortion I say to you, “if I were in your shoes, we can never explain why things happens but abortion is not an option in my book. If my life depended on it and I would die if I had the baby then I would give my baby the chance at a life and if I lost mine in the process then that was Gods plan. If I were raped and got pregnant than I would have the baby and still love it, its not that poor baby’s fault that his father did what he did and he or she should be punished for it by murdering it; and if I couldn’t live with the thought of raising a rapist baby then I would give it to a couple that wanted a baby and couldn’t have one.” I know alot of people would agree with what I just said but thats alright because I’m just not capable of murder.
