The Gideon Media Arts Conference – Update

(Pictured L-R: Eric Highland, Clint Thomas, and Andre van Heerden at the Gideon)

Wow! Where to begin? This is my first blog post since returning from the Gideon, my body is still recovering from the lack of sleep and overwhelming blessings that took place while there.

For those of you who didn’t get the chance to attend this year, let me just say that you missed something incredibly special.

In my personal opinion the Gideon Media Arts Conference and Christian Film Festival (Sponsored by LifeWay, and directed by Rodney and Lori Marett) is the finest Christian Media event out there.

The setting was gorgeous, we were nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina at the incomparable Ridgecrest facility.

The Gideon allowed for intimate times of networking with both veterans and fresh faces in the Christian Media industry. We were often (by our own choosing) up at 6AM and to bed at 3AM. We would sit around together after the days activities and talk into the wee hours. It was simply awesome!

If I were to list all of the people in attendance that are influencing our culture for Christ through media, my blog post would be ridiculously long. Writers, Filmmakers, Composers, Technicians, Animators, you name it… they were all there.

The Gideon boasts a film festival, solid workshops, a banquet, awards ceremony, a round table discussion for authors and producers, a pitch session to producers, an intern program and so much more.

Already so many people are talking about next years conference. Only days after the close of this year’s festival, the planning is already underway for next year. As of right now the dates are June 3 – 8, 2010.

Again, the event was amazing and I hope you can all make it out there next year! Any questions about the event, feel free to ask.

God bless!
