Sitting next to a professor of philosophy

So, I ended up on the Delta flight.  As I write this, I’m sitting in the Atlanta airport waiting for my flight to Asheville.

God has His purpose and His reason, and although I will never completely understand the magnitude of His sovereignty and ways until He calls me home, I can say with certainty that I’m sure a very small piece of the puzzle was the fact that on my last flight, I sat next to one of the professors of philosophy at UNM who happened to be reading a book on Atheism.
Boy did he sit next to the wrong/right person!  You see, my background is apologetics in essential Christian Doctrine.  In my past I’ve given my philosophy teachers a handful to say the least.
Now you can imagine me next to this man for three hours.  One of my former students on FB commented that it was like Paul chained to the jailor.  Well, I don’t put myself on Paul’s level, but I sure did use what the Spirit wrote through Paul to speak to this man.
It was a fascinating conversation.  The Spirit continuously demolished and obliterated his arguments and poured out Truth.
He was faced with questions that demanded answers.  Questions he was not willing to answer but understood that a position must be taken.  It was amazing to speak to him and have the Spirit lead my words.
Every argument that he brought, the Spirit brought an irrefutable answer that demanded an answer.  It was beautiful and surely not my work.
Thank you Lord for Your goodness, Your grace and most of all Your love for the lost.  You are truly Awesome.
What is next Lord?  I’m on my way to Asheville, unless You have other plans.  I stand ready to serve you without question and without hesitation.

  1. Isn’t it exciting to know we’re part of a bigger plan? A much bigger plan than which flight we’re taking to Asheville. Praise God, He doesn’t waste any opportunity to spread His love, grace, and mercy to a lost and dying world.

  2. Amen. I continue to pray for him. God is good.. all the time…
